                                 Freedom to build unity

The new and free South Africa.

On the 27th April we celebrate South African Freedom Day under the theme "Working Together to Build Unity and Prosperity for All". This will be the 18 year in celebrations of successes from apartheid to an inclusive democracy and reflecting on the South African achievements.  This event is a good opportunity to educate the upcoming generation on the South African history, as this will enable us to shape our future. While appreciating the freedom we have.  We celebrate the Bill of Rights, which distinguishes us among the nations of the world and guarantees all South Africans freedom. This event helps us to acknowledge education and share it with others.
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
Nelson Mandela

  2. This day celebrates the hard workers that fought for us to be able to cast our mark on the ballot paper.
This day commemorates the first post apartheid elections the first national elections in South Africa which did not depend on race.
So do you exercise your right and privilege to cast that 'X'

  3. Freedom day is a day that people fought for freedom and it an important element for the youth to know and understand because knowing the roots about were you come from and were this country came from to be how and where it is now is very important.

  6. Most people, youth and children in our society don't value the freedom that we have instead they take it for granted. Shouldn't this be the time where we stress about building a new nation with no crime, racial inequalities and working hard to honour those ideals who died fighting for our freedom? Freedom Day is important and needs to be celebrated because it took us from apartheid to where we are today

  7. what draws us to the conclusion that we really are "free" and have earned the freedom that was reaped away from us?? apart from having to attend institutions without segregation, work in previously white dominated jobs and so forth, I think we are currently still fighting for that freedom as there are impendiments that are currently affecting us such as racism though we might be still indenial that it does not exist anymore

  8. The past may never be erased from our minds, this is the new generation and with the knowledge we have we can change South Africa.Instead of working for a white man one can start his own organisation and the are resources for assistance.

  9. To me, freedom means being able to access opportunities which my parents didn't have in the past and use them to shape my future! Without education, our generation faces an uncertain future! well said!

  10. yes we are celebrating the 18 year of our freedom but my question is that are we really free and what are doing to make sure that we value and celebrate this day in a decent way....a lot of our youth see this day as a holiday for them to meet with friends and party instead of going to educational places to learn more on how this day came about.is that what we call freedom???

    1. This day is an important day in South Africa. The least we can do as a youth is to attend the events taking place on this day, which will increase our knowledge on this day.Let us educate our selves on these important days.
