The month of August is known to be women's month in South Africa. This day is dedicated to 9 August 1956 when all all women participated in national march to petition against pass laws, to the Union building in Pretoria. The 20 000 strong women's march was led by Lillian Ngoyi, Helen Joseph, Sophia Williams-De Bruyn and Albert Sisulu. Each women has a different story to tell , yet many of them are unemployed and illiterate or haven't finished high school. The woman across Borders organiation has build a foundation in helping woman to read, write and communicate in English, in making their lives better.Through the literacy programme, they learn communication skill and that has open them doors to formal education and jobs.
Across South Africa women of all ages gathered themselves to enjoy a cup of tea at the Signal Restaurant at the Cape Grace Hotel in the V&A Waterfront Cape Town to share knowledge and inspire the up coming youth, to follow on their foot steps, while raising funds for charity. The women in water awards were hosted to acknowledge all women who lead by example and teach their community to save and respect water. We continue dedicating this month to all women who make difference in South Africa.
Realy we are women of wisdom, because we fight for change and everyday should be a women's day.
