Men In the Making

Men In the making initiative

Director: CSI & Communications: Tracker Network

I must say this is a great initiative and South Africa will grow by investing in these young Men.The department of education has joined hands with Tracker in  the Men In the Making initiative. This Initiative has been build from from the realisation that the boy-child in South Africa are calling out for attention, help, recognition and acknowledgement. As the face with the challenges of life and experiences, as more focus is placed on girl children.

The concept of the initiative
Men In the Making is not an event but an ongoing process, that can only grow from the parcipation of differnt corporate organisation and joining hands with the government. i.e. The Department of Education. Tracker and its business partners. The process belongs to all the South African coporate learning institutions. This is a concept made to build and restore confidence in boy-children in all aspects of their development and growth.

Aim of the Initiative
  • To make the society aware to build the foundation of developing boys and young men at higher institution.
  • To create a platform for boys to find expression and meaning in their lives.
  •  To level the field in growth and advancement in opportunities, between girl-children and boychildren.
  • To create a stop in perception of  ‘it is cool to do crime and be defiant and that you are not yet a man until you have walked through the corridors of a prison’.
  • to give a  positively impact on the lives of boy-children so that they grow to be responsible citizens and future leaders of our country.
The is planned to be achieved
  • To embrace and educate the targeted boys in the concept and allow it to change and influence their lives positively.
  • We hope this new private-public partnership with Government (Education in particular) will find expressions in other state organs that will help bring the two closer together for a better South Africa.
  • We hope to register as many companies as possible to support this initiative
The Men In the Making has joined hands with:
  1. The Gauteng Department of Education for sharing in our vision and embracing the concept, of ‘Men In the Making’.
  2. The media partner Metro FM for helping shape this concept and bringing awarenessto the public.
  3. To all the boys who will be part of this inaugural program.
  4. To all insititutes involved.
  5. To Tracker for agreeing to invest in this mammoth undertaking

Men In The Making will change all the South African young Men to have a better future and make a difference. Lets build todays boys for future Men leaders.

  1. weldone to the department of education and tracker for finally seeing how men or boys no longer have a place in this so called democratic country because trully speaking i think the empowerment of women has taken over to such an extent that men no longer mean anything.

  6. I agree that this is a good initiative, especially with regard to ensuring that boys and men become responsible citizens. But, it is inaccurate to state that the initiative shows the balance between boys and girls. Boys still have more opportunities than girls. More initiatives for girls are needed in order to address gender inequalities, particularly in the work environment.

    1. I say this initiative has brought balance on both girls and boys, as girls have their own initiative called "Take a girl child to work".The boys really need this initiative so one may teach them about life. This will decrease the high rate of crime.

  7. it is nice to know that boys are not forgotten because lately everything has just seemed to be about girls.it is also a good idea that the department of education and metro fm are playing a part in this initiative aiming at empowering boys who are the countries future leaders.there must be a balance between these initiatives being introduced to empower both girls and boys for a stable and educated country.
