Wasting good talent on drugs |
It is shocking and disappointing that the most respected sport field rugby and athletics student players are now taking part in drug usage.
The South African Institute for Drug-free Sport (SAIDS), has visited hundreds of schools for drug testing on students. Now that drugs are a serious issue on students participating in sport. The school's head masters and the anti-doping agency had agreed to work hand in hand to eliminate the increasing number of students using drugs. The agency has announced the two teenagers who took part in Craven Week last year, have been banned from participating in any competitive sport for two years after testing positive for steroids.SAIDA has administered 1 000 tests for dagga and anabolic steroids at a cost of R1.3 and R1.million. After a shocking finding of pupils arriving drunk at school smocking dagga and using illegal steroids, have prompted the decision by school principal to conduct drug tests.

nokuthula i really feel that it is of vital importance to ceise such actions because they are killing the flair of our sports as a country and also would like to recommend that also prominent sports people should intervene because these actions all point to them because these kids look at what their role models are doing and are taking that as a right thing.
ReplyDeleteYes it is important that the SAIDS must intervine in sport activities taking place at school, to give knowledge on usage on drugs. At the end of the day we cannot hold our role models(sport players) reliable for our youth that chooses to take drugs.I feel that educators and schools, must play their roles by making sure that schools are safe and no one uses any kind of drugs unless prescribed to.
Deletetrue, its funny how people always look for an easy way out or for a solution that is short term and they don't think about the after effects of their actions so i think it's important that people get well informed about drug
ReplyDeleteYes Yvonne, that is why the South African Institute for Drug-free Sport, is there to educate sport players in schools on drugs.
