Read a Book everyday
Reading a book may be exhausting, some may say. As South African Department of Arts and Culture in collaboration with the SA Book Development Council once again commemorates National Book Week, in style. During the first week of September South Africans celebrate the National Book week, along with great heroes birthday Steve Biko.
This event is hosted in all provinces in every local municipalities. All children of all ages and races were invited to listen to the great tales told from their favourite books, read by their role models. This initiative encourages children and adults to read more and increase their knowledge, of the world around them.
Exhibitions, demo library, reading tent, workshops by authors and poets presentations by publishers and intellectual were part of the line up.TV personalities, artists, writers and government officials also joined in the celebration of literacy over the course of the week. Children picked up on Black Author's books like Steve Biko, to know where they come from and what they should stand for. This should encourage every young and old South African Citizen to read every day.
